KTM Cafe Racer Build 2012

In 2012 I turned my street registered dirtbike into a cafe racer, here’s the process.

Building this Mild Steel fuel tank that wrapped around all the stock items was a big task but one that was crucial to developing this cafe racer styling.

With the bodywork taking shape the styling came together.

Test runs proved that this was a fun and agile machine.

I was lucky enough to be invited to a lot of motorcycle shows with my first real custom bike.

Being featured in Tank Moto magazine was a feather in my cap.

I went on to lower the bike a little more and sweep the tail back with a new steel rear pod that housed the battery.

A lot of good times were had on the bike, it lived a very hard life but put up with it all, the joys of building from a solid base.

It also helped my good friend Dean Walters solidify his photography skills, to this day he is recognised as Australias best motorcycle photographer.

The bike turned black for a little while before I handed in the registration and turned it into a Flat Track race bike, but all in all it was a great build and good time on two wheels.
