HD Flat Trackers
By the end of 2105 I had built multiple bikes, one that eluded me was the Harley Flat Tracker that I had yearned for.
I started running Flat Track Funday events on sundays at a local speedway that was shutdown, the format was simple, rock up and ride whatever you want.
We started really enjoying riding the big bikes.
I took a trip to the auctions a week before one of our funday events to build a bike for a friend, I picked up a crashed Harley 1200cc Sportster, I tore it down, adapted a Honda CBR1300 front end, Triumph Tiger wheels, fabricated a straight pipe setup and a fibreglass tail section.
The bike was somewhat of a death trap though, these injected sportsters were really heavy and after a decent crash the bike didnt make it back to the track.
I fitted up an old Honda tank and incorperated the EFI system inside it, then painted up the rear to add a little twist to the whole Honda X Harley combo.
That was the end of the road for the injected Sportster, I loved the bike but after the speedway changed hands I really didnt have much use for it. I pulled the front end and the wheels off and sold the bike.
I searched high and low for a new donor bike, I found a 1986 Sportster project that was unfinished, it had a 1200cc kit, custom wiring and an S&S carb that was all tuned to perfection. These older sportsters are much lighter and the bonus was it was old enough for historic rego which meant i could use it on the street. I made up a sheetmetal swingarm and adapted the front end and wheelset off the original flat tracker build.
After re-tunneling an old Yamaha tank I made up another fibreglass seat section and went for a test run.

Back to the track for some testing.
Nothing will ever compare to my 2016 KTM 350SXF
The new lines on this Sportster really do it for me, the simplicity and raw power of this bike is next level.
And the best thing is that it can be street ridden, I have some updates for this bike but this snapshot back to peak 2015 ETS moto era was worth it.
On this night Dean Walters went to hospital, after we cut an access hole in his Transporters tailgate we spent a number of hours doing tracking shots, turns out his Diesel van puts out a lot of emisions, he spent a few days recovering from this night.
