Triumph Vintage Drag Bike

In 2015 I was learning a lot about vintage motorcycle’s, my inspiration always stems from racing and I was gaining a lot of ideas from the glory days of drag racing.

I came across a local seller with a box of old 1951 Triumph parts, they were the right price and I had some ideas to make a drag inspired vintage racer.

I rebuilt the motor with the parts I had and everything seemed in good condition, I spun up a pair of hubs from 6061 Aluminium on the lathe and used an indexing head to drill the individual spoke holes.

I made up a solid front end and drilled engine plates. The tyres were a big focus of mine, I used a Firestone 21” front tyre and M&H Racemaster rear drag slick in 18”.

I made a small aluminium tank that used a rocker inspecion plug for the filler. The magneto is a new HUNT item and I ran a BING 54 Carb off an old 400cc two stroke Husquvarna.

The goal is always symmetry, the rear fender doubles as the seat and the exhaust system uses a set of megaphone tubes for that unmistable Triumph sound.

See what I mean about that unmistable Triumph sound?

It looks fast just sitting there right?

It’s always fun to take this combo to events.

This bike is a snapshot into my inspiration, I was happy that I was able to bring it to life and be a part of some fun events ontop of it.
